Meet the Care Team is our blog series highlighting the incredible people that serve our families at AnswersNow. Today, we’re sitting down with Bryn, a BCBA based out of New York.

1. What led you to AnswersNow?

I was looking for a role with more flexibility and that aligned with my values as a clinician. I reached out to a friend who worked at AnswersNow and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about the company!

2. Why did you decide to become a BCBA?

I have always loved helping others! I started as a special education major in undergrad but it wasn’t quite the right fit for me. My school started an ABA program and after my first class, I fell in love with the science of behavior analysis!

3. How would you describe your working style or approach?

I prioritize building relationships with my clients and their families. I believe that a strong relationship is the foundation to success within therapy. I love to learn about what is important to my clients and what brings them joy.

4. Why did you decide to work with AnswersNow? Are there any benefits the role brings you personally?

I love that AnswersNow uses a BCBA direct model. Seeing my clients multiple times per week allows me to quickly and efficiently make the adjustments that they need to succeed! I also love the flexibility that remote work provides. Being able to work from anywhere allows me to travel and see my family more often!

5. Have you ever worked in an in-person setting? How would you say the AnswersNow model differs?

Previously, I have worked in home, community, clinic, and school settings. I have seen three major differences in the model that AnswersNow provides.

First, AnswersNow uses a focused model of treatment. In traditional ABA services, clients often receive 20 plus hours of ABA services per week. Our clients often receive 4 to 6 hours of care per week. This allows us to serve clients that often are denied care in the traditional model as well as provide our families with more flexibility in their daily life.

Additionally due to the focused model and nature of telehealth, ABA through AnswersNow requires a higher level of parent involvement. Parents are involved throughout the entire process and can see the skills that their child is working in each session. This helps parents feel more supported as well as promotes progress outside of session!

Lastly, AnswersNow uses a BCBA direct model instead of a tiered model of care. This means that you clinician will have their Masters or PhD in ABA and be able to provide in moment expertise on the challenges your child is facing.

6. What would you say to families who are tentative about the efficacy of virtual autism therapy?

Doing virtual therapy can definitely feel different. In my experience, my clients have made just as much if not more progress within virtual therapy sessions! I think increased parent involvement and the BCBA direct model promotes this success.

7. What would you say to someone who’s considering working as a BCBA for AnswersNow?

I have found my work so rewarding! I love building relationships with my clients and seeing their progress on a daily basis. Additionally, working directly with clients allows me to spend more time on tasks that will ensure my clients are successful instead of doing busy tasks like creating schedules for RBTs.

8. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Do you have a specific anecdote or story that stands out?

I love seeing the progress that my clients make! I am so proud each time they learn a new skill!

When I started with one of my clients, he was only able to use 1 to 2 words at a time and had a total of around 50 words. After a year of ABA, he is having conversations with others, asking questions, and even telling jokes!

What's a fun fact about you?

I love open water swimming. My next goal is to swim a 10k open water race!
